The Jerry Barnett Arts Legacy Fund

Our mission is to give back to the arts community with programs and funding for educational and professional development.

Our objectives are to:

Raise funds to support the arts programs that are central to our region’s rich cultural environment.

Produce youth programs, including in-school presentations, master classes, and apprenticeships pairing student musicians with a professional mentor for a month or more.

Develop community programs for adults seeking the creative outlet of rehearsing and performing on a non-professional basis.

Support professional development for artists through performance opportunities, grants and professional training.

Our initial priorities include:

Recruiting a board that can help us make connections, raise funds, and be creative and effective in our programs and grant making

Initial fundraising revolving around events (the core Jerry Barnett Entertainment product) and collaborations with the arts organizations with whom we’ve worked for years. Major donor and planned giving contacts will begin as soon as possible. We will apply for grants and sponsorships as opportunities arise. Potential for contributed income will grow as our programs become established.

Setting up educational and community programs that draw on the rich resources of the JBE talent pool and music library. The central idea is to bring our performers (many of whom are also professional educators) together with students, pre-professional musicians, and adults interested in playing on a non-professional basis.

Helping professional and pre-professional artists to continue their education and creative development. Initially, this program will focus on assistance for music students when financial hardships might otherwise force them to give up their music training. We’re actively seeking creative, caring people who are interested in being involved.

Here are a few possibilities:

Serve on our board or honorary board. (If you’re interested in this, we’ll invite you to an event where you can learn more about what’s involved.)

Assist with our events, bringing your experience, creativity, and connections to our fundraising and community awareness activities.

Spread the word about our programs to kids who are serious about music, and to adults who wish they still had a chance to play every now and then. Come on down and play with us!

Support us financially, with a direct contribution, working on an event, assisting with fundraising contacts or in a myriad of other ways.
